To deny that is to deny democratic legitimacy in principle, and the sovereignty of national governments and all that that implies for Europe's many peoples. I wouldn't have thought you would want to do that, Adam.

Just becuase the 'centre right' gets into bed with a anti-democratic socialist movement on "our behalf" doesn't mean they are "dominating" anything. If anything, that's a double betrayal, since they are misrepresenting themselves to voters, and thus the people who they've fooled into voting for them.

Finally, as a consequence, I'm afraid I must profoundly disagree with your first claim, that the EU "is not a socialist organisation". Simply put, that exactly what it is because that's precisely what it has been designed to be. Any other belief is the product, frankly, of wishful thinking.Jon Lishmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07272058035800593800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8278366793340877738.post-80425264262732672842009-11-26T22:55:48.947+00:002009-11-26T22:55:48.947+00:00Whatever you may say about the EU (and you can say...Whatever you may say about the EU (and you can say a lot), it is not a Socialist organisation. It has been distinctly less Socialist than our own government. It is dominated by the centre right (Christian Democrats) such as the new President.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
